Approval of Minutes

1. N. Hulls opened the meeting at 1945. The minutes from the previous AGM (held on Friday 11th February 2000) were distributed, read, approved and signed as being correct with no matters arising.

 

Treasurers Report

2. The treasurer’s report was prepared by A. Phillips and read by C. Hulls (details attached). Incomes highlighted were the Grant £3033 for youth kit, another mobile net, youth winter net sessions and money for 4 coaching courses. (C. Hulls and J. Hulls have now passed). C Hulls reported that he is keeping a separate records/receipts of grant purchases.

3. Bar profits at £1406 had been very successful, and club subscriptions had raised £655.

4. C. Hulls pointed out that there was still one cricket tour deposit outstanding. P. Tyrer agreed to chase this up.

5. P. Tyrer reported that we had raised £75 from the fantasy cricket league.

6. C. Hulls expressed his sincere thanks on behalf of the club to A. Phillips for the hard work she had once again put in. Proposed/Seconded B. Weller/A. Aplin



Captains report

7. The Saturday 1st XI Captains report was given by vice Captain W. Phillips (in S. Turners absence) He reported a fairly successful season where we had maintained our position in Division Two of county league. Graham Trott had topped the batting averages with 39.13 with S. Turner coming second with 33. J. Forcey had topped the bowling taking 29 wickets at an average of 13, with M. Turner taking 21 wickets at an average of 18.

8. W. Phillips thanked C. Hulls/G. Bruce for wicket and outfield preparation and T. Phillips for umpiring throughout season.

9. A. Johnson gave the second XI captains report. He thanked J. Grime who had captained most of the season in Andy’s absence. The team had maintained its position in Division 2. S. Dannatt had finished top of the batting with an average of 39. C. Hulls was second with 33. D. Page was top of the bowling with 7 wickets at an average of 7.86. A Howe had taken 11 wickets at 15.64. Andy stressed that the team selection policy needed to be resolved, and that on numerous occasions many 2nd XI players we getting pulled into the first XI as late as Friday night, causing the 2nd XI captain to have to scrape around for players at short notice.


 

Wednesday Cricket

10. J. Hulls summarised the mid-week league. It had been an excellent season winning 8 out of 8 and the 2nd division title. B. Weller (Chairman of the Citizen midweek league) presented the trophy to him at the meeting.

 


Sunday Cricket

11. W. Phillips reported that there had been a limited number of fixtures but the balance had been right and everybody thoroughly enjoyed the season. There will be more fixtures this season and the 50/50 youth policy will continue.

 

Junior Cricket

12. J. Forsey reported that the youth cricket continues to go from strength to strength. Both the under 15’s and Under 13’s had completed successful seasons. New kit, a mobile net and indoor nets had been purchased/booked with the aid of National Lottery Grant money.

13. Congratulations were passed onto to C. Hulls and J. Hulls for passing their respective coaching courses. M. Dudfield will take his course later in the year.

14. J. Forsey stressed that more help was needed on Thursday evenings for the Under 11’s coaching, and that we needed to secure more fixtures for this age group during the forthcoming season.

15. J. Forsey reported that T. Rowell and A. Garlic had both successfully got through county Under 11 cricket trials during the winter.

16. John passed on his thanks to W. Phillips, P. Tyrer, T. Jones, P. Lane, C. Hulls, D. Taylor and C. Hulls for their help in running the sides.

2nd Team Captain

18. B. Weller expressed his thanks on behalf of the 2nd XI for all of the effort that A. Johnson had put in during his time as captain. He then reiterated Andy’s point regarding team selection.

A long discussion then ensued regarding selection policy. It was agreed that players should make their availability known by the Wednesday evening prior to each Saturday’s fixture, and that the team be selected on that Wednesday.

19. It was agreed that the existing cricket committee, which meets once a month should oversee the selection policy. Proposed/Seconded J. Forsey/B. Weller.

 

Ladies Cricket

20. J. Hulls reported that Bushley Ladies team were trying to get a fixture against a Corse & Staunton Ladies side sometime in June/July. It was agreed this would be a good idea. J. Hulls agreed find out whether we had enough interested parties to form a side.


Net Practice

21. This year Nuclear Electric would be booking nets at Cheltenham vice Oxstalls. It was agreed that the club continue to hold nets at Oxstalls. C. Hulls to investigate availability.

 

Subscriptions & Match Fees

22. Annual subscriptions be raised to £30 vice £25 and £35 if paid after June 1st .

23. Match fees will remain the same £3 (£1.50p for school/college players).

Teas

24. It was agreed that the Saturday vice Captains would continue to organise the tea rota. The option whereby the person on tea duty can buy the food and get the girls to prepare it worked well last season and it was agreed to continue with this policy.

 

Cricket Tour

25. The tour to Guernsey had been a big success. C. Hulls enquired whether a mini tour to Somerset was a good idea this season. He agreed to investigate the possibility further.

 

Skittles

26. W. Phillips on behalf of the skittles team, raised the question whether the skittles funds should be run separately from the cricket. It was unanimously agreed to keep the two together.

 

Cricket committee meetings

27. It was agreed that these meetings continue to be held on a monthly basis.


Fantasy Cricket

28. P. Tyrer will be running the fantasy cricket league again this Season.
